Connor McDavid scored a historic goal for Team Canada just a few weeks ago, but he's been mired in a major slump with the Edmonton Oilers - and is now opening up on it.

Oilers media has begun to notice that McDavid is scoring at the lowest rate of his career, and in particular, his last 10 games have been below his standard.

Connor McDavid opens up on the worst slump of his career

McDavid hasn't been playing his best this season, but the last 5 games have been particularly poor. The Oilers captain has 3 points, but a rating of minus 12.
I'd be lying if I said I've been feeling good out there. It's been tough to get going

If I'm not touching the puck, it's usually a sign that I'm not playing very well. The more times I touch it means I've won more battles, been around it a little bit more. Just haven't been around it enough.
This really is unprecedented territory for McDavid 10 years into his NHL career. He's still the dominant player Oilers fans know and love, but he's clearly not been firing at all cylinders this year. Additionally, this is the first full season where McDavid isn't on pace to score 100 points.
However, McDavid's problem isn't just reduced scoring at the moment, it's all around play. He hasn't been on the ice for a 5v5 goal in 6 games, and he's been outscored 10-0 in that time.
The positive sign for Oilers fans is that McDavid is rarely ever in a prolonged slump, and when it's called out is usually when he snaps out of it.
Tonight against the Florida Panthers, McDavid has a massive test in their Stanley Cup Final rivals. A big game can be expected from the Oilers captain in response.
