Near the end of the second period, Kane made a few lazy defensive plays that lead to easy turnovers. Perry showed some leadership by calling out Kane on the bench immediately.
In the intermission, analyst Kevin Bieksa broke down the play and the situation on the Oilers bench. Kane made a few lazy turnovers when he had to take a hit, and Perry seemed to be really letting him have it for the poor plays. It doesn't look great on Kane, but it's great to see the veteran Perry holding players accountable and acting as a leader on this Oilers team already.
It's not the first time recently Kane has been spotted arguing on the bench. Just a few weeks ago, Leon Draisaitl was also seen arguing with Kane on the bench for a perceived mistake on the ice. After the game, coach Kris Knoblauch commented on the incident, just chalking it up to two emotional players going at it on the bench.
Reports have been swirling that Kane isn't happy with his ice time, isn't happy with his own game, and is arguing constantly with teammates. This incident with Perry now won't help Kane's case, and now it's looking like there really could be something going on with Kane and the Oilers locker room.
