Moments ago, the Edmonton Oilers called up their wayward goaltender Jack Campbell. Now that the AHL's Bakersfield Condors have been eliminated, Campbell will join the Oilers for the rest of the year.

Campbell will join the Oilers tonight along with defenceman Philip Broberg, who has also been called up. It's very unlikely either player gets into the lineup for any games barring significant injury, but these two players have been around the Oilers locker room plenty in the last two years, and are important to the fabric of the room. They'll be back just to be around the team, and likely participate as extras to up the tempo in practice.

Obviously, it comes as a shock to even see Jack Campbell back with the Oilers. Campbell is only in the second year of a five year, $25M contract, and was sent down early this season because he was simply unplayable in a cup contender's net. The trust for Jack Campbell is simply gone, and although he's found his game again in the AHL as of late, he won't ever be on the Oilers roster as a goalie again. It's best likely the Oilers move on from Campbell in any way they can this year, be it in trade or by a buyout.
