The Oilers organization along with their fan base are ready and are excited for another season after an incredible playoff run which may have an early milestone as superstar captain Connor McDavid is set to be the third fastest NHL player to reach 1000 points.
For McDavid to achieve this goal, he needs to score 18 goals in less than 11 games, a feat that he has done in the past. After their dismal start last season, McDavid went on a tear of an incredible level which helped the Oilers get out from the bottom of the standings which secured a playoff spot and put them a few points behind the Vancouver Canucks for the Pacific division.
McDavid would be joining some of the greatest legends in the game as he would be with Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux and former Oilers great Jari Kurri.
Last season, McDavid played 76 games, scoring 32 goals with 100 assists for 132 points that was the plus 35 with 30 penalty minutes.
Oilers management have reconfigured their team by adding several key
free agents while subtracting a few other players through trade and offer sheets but it's clear they are ready for another run at the cup and hopefully they can celebrate this milestone with McDavid early on in their season.
