Gretzky's harrowing comments on Bowman-led Blackhawks scandal

As the dust begins to settle on the hiring of Stan Bowman to the Edmonton Oilers, Wayne Gretzky spoke out about the case and gave some harrowing comments on his take of the situation.

"I'm sitting here thinking, as a parent 'My son is 18 years old and he's going to maybe be drafted by that team...I want to know my 18-yr-old son is going to be protected."

It's safe to say that many parents will be asking the same questions that Gretzky spoke about and the Oilers organization will be explaining their hire for many months.

Much has been made about today's hiring of Stan Bowman to the Oilers organization as Oilers president Jeff Jackson introduced Bowman. During the introductions, both Bowman and Jackson expressed that Bowman has learned from his mistakes and has worked extensively with other players who experienced their terrible situation to get a better sense of how they're handling and working through it.

This hiring will be a lightning rod for the Oilers as the team had enjoyed several weeks of excellent management from Jackson as he managed to sign several key free agents and reconfigured the team for another run next season.

It appears that both men will be running the team together as it was repeated that both feel they are aligned in terms of vision and how the team should be built and run.

It was expressed that the incident that happened in Chicago will never happen in Edmonton, but it remains to be seen on how public perception and even player perception will be viewed with this hire now announced.
