Jeff Skinner has mostly played on the fourth line this season, as he appears to be in Coach Knoblauch's doghouse. It's also possible he just doesn't fit a need on this team.
On the Got Yer Back Podcast, Strudwick said he believes Skinner could also be frustrated with the lack of minutes, and could waive his no-move clause to go to a contending team.
This does like up with previous reports from Bob Stauffer that the Oilers could consider moving Jeff Skinner when Evander Kane returns from injury.
He's a veteran of over a 1000 NHL games and still a quality offensive player, so Jeff Skinner doesn't deserve to play a full season on the fourth line.
It's unfortunate that the finishing talent from Jeff Skinner didn't fit better with this year's Oilers team, but the right move for everyone is to move on and allow him a chance to play elsewhere.
The Oilers could clear his $3M in salary for this season to better spend on defence or another forward at the trade deadline.
For Skinner, he could get the chance with another team to prove that he can still be an effective player with more opportunity. He's set to be a free agent next season, and his current situation is tanking his value.
Hopefully the Oilers can find a positive situation for Skinner and send him to another team, giving him the best opportunity for success next year, and getting a player to better fit their needs now.
