All over the ice last night, the Kings were catching the Oilers with dangerous slewfoots. Evander Kane was a victim multiple times, and started really going after the Kings players both on the ice and from the bench.
The Kings tried several other slewfoots through the game, and weren't penalized once. If the referees don't call the rules, then the players have to take justice into their own hands - and that's just what happened in the third period. Tensions boiled over after Kane got drilled by Andreas Englund, which started a near full line fight.
Kane's physical play was fully dialled in last night, and he lead the Oilers through the mud. As soon as he was out of the penalty box from this fight, Kane got some support from his teammates for his play - and he didn't stop there. Shortly after, Kane went after Drew Doughty, and baited him into taking a 10 minute misconduct. Taking one of the other team's best players off the ice for that amount of time can be critical in the playoffs.
After that, the Oilers just continued their all-around domination of the Kings, and closed out the game with a 6-1 victory to take a 2-1 series lead. Evander Kane was the player of the game with a Gordie Howe hat trick, then calling out Mark Spector for a false report last week. They'll face off against the Kings tomorrow night, looking to take a 3-1 series chokehold back to Edmonton.
