Marc-Andre Fleury's secret gesture to city of Edmonton revealed before final game against Oilers
The Oilers will play the Minnesota Wild for the final time in Marc-Andre Fleury's career, which prompted an Oilers source to reveal an under the radar charitable act from Fleury to the city of Edmonton.
Fleury has always been known as an elite goalie and a special person, and it's great to see all walks of the NHL appreciate him in his final year before retirement.
Marc-Andre Fleury Secretly Supported Edmonton Charity During COVID Playoffs
According to a new article from Jason Gregor in OilersNation, Fleury supported the Boyle Street Community Center and Services while he was there during the bubble playoffs.
The Boyle Street organization works to end chronic homelessness in Edmonton with shelters, employment programs, and youth programs.
»When Vegas played in the bubble in Edmonton in 2020, Fleury called Boyle Street Community Centre and offered to buy pizza for them. Fleury ordered them pizza for five consecutive Mondays.
At the time, Fleury didn't want any recognition. Elliot Tanti, the director of communications at Boyle Street felt that since tonight is Fleury's last regular season game against the Oilers, he wanted people to know it was Fleury who organized those deliveries. He sent Tanti a text each Monday morning saying «Sixteen pizzas coming at 11:30 today. Hope you guys have a great day.»

While he's mostly known for being a prankster personally, Fleury is also exceptionally generous and truly a great ambassador for the sport of hockey.
It's great that this story came to light before Fleury's last regular matchup against the Oilers in his career. Oilers fans will get more one chance to say goodbye to one of the NHL's best.
Fleury's agent Allan Walsh also called attention to the story on social media tonight.
» This is a true story of something Marc-Andre Fleury did while in the Edmonton «bubble» during the pandemic. He's been quietly doing things like this during his entire NHL career. What an amazing guy!»
- Allan Walsh
At 40 years old, Fleury is a total lock for the hall of fame. He's played 1039 career games, likely being the last goalie to ever reach that number. That goes along with 3 Stanley Cup victories, a career .912 save percentage, and a Vezina trophy.
He's one of the statistically best goaltenders in NHL history, and hockey fortunate to have Marc-Andre Fleury.
