The Oilers are rightfully the heavy favourites in the series, but the team was unable to beat Vancouver once this season - and Connor McDavid didn't like being reminded of it. Early this season when the Oilers were floundering under Woodcroft, they lost three games to the Canucks, including one embarrassing 8-1 game. Mark Spector asked McDavid if that game was still in their heads, and McDavid totally brushed him off.
It was a totally ridiculous question from Spector to try to drudge up what feels like a totally irrelevant game to this Oilers team now. When the Oilers lost those initial 3 games against the Canucks early this season, they simply weren't the powerhouse threat they are now.
Later, McDavid went on to provide his real feelings on facing Vancouver. McDavid showed ultimate leadership, saying that there's no point in talking about anything just that they're both good teams, and the Oilers need to execute their game plan.
Hockey fans across the NHL are in for what could be one of the most electric series of this playoffs. Two Canadian teams with a storied rivalry, along with the fans will clash with one another trying to punch a ticket to the conference finals. This series is sure to be absolutely nails for hockey fans, and absolutely nerve wracking for fans of both teams.
