As the Oilers continue to get their squad ready for the playoffs while trying to lock up home ice advantage, GM Ken Holland was able to complete some business by adding Brock University Connor Ungar to a contract.
The 22-year-old Brock Badger signed a two-year entry-level deal. He spoke after his signing and gave a rundown on what he will be doing, including joining the Oilers AHL team at the end of the month.
The Oilers crease became even more crowded after adding Ungar as the team is currently carrying five goalies in their system. Many feel the team added the depth as a few will be leaving at the end of this season including Calvin Pickard to UFA and Jack Campbell, who is a buyout candidate.
In his rookie season, he had posted a record of 20-6-0 record with a goals against of 2.15 and a save percentage of .932. This depth is important and it's clear that Ungar will an important piece as the team continues to add more depth.
For the time being he will be reporting to Bakersfield for an AHL assignment.
