NHL insider and CEO of Daily Faceoff Frank Seravalli has changed his views on the status of contract negotiations between the Edmonton Oilers and their star center Leon Draisaitl.

During a segment of Oilers Now, Seravalli Feels that both sides are further apart than he realized and that a contract settlement may not be on the horizon as many have reported over the past couple of weeks.

Many pundits cross the NHL were reporting that a contract was imminent with a number around 13.3 to $13.5 million per season, and it would hold an 8-year term which is the maximum that NHL player can sign. But it seems that this is not the case and there may be more going on that many are unaware.

Draisaitl Has been an outstanding player for the Oilers and has been a playoff beast for the team as he helped take the Oilers to the Stanley Cup finals this year. Fans and pundits are debating on whether these contract negotiations are tide to what Connor McDavid will do as he will be entering his final year of his deal next offseason.

Many feel that both players will be tied to one another and will likely seek to remain in Edmonton. But speculation will be rampant the longer these contract negotiations go as general manager Stan Bowman and president Jeff Jackson will attempt to lock up Draisaitl, defenseman Evan Bouchard and superstar Connor McDavid.
