Adam Proteau of The Hockey News feels that both players contract talks will go on «all season long» as it appears that a quick solution to this negotiation seems unlikely.
Both players are playing in their last year of their current deals and many feel that they will both be receiving a significant raise when it comes to signing their contracts. Rumors have been swirling around the Oilers over the past several weeks that Draisaitl's deal was all but done and he was expected to come in around 13.3 or 13.5 million per season and would receive the max term of eight years.
Bouchard on the other hand will certainly get a pay raise as he is working off a two-year deal that was worth $7,000,000. Last year he had an exceptional year including his playoff run as he played 81 regular season games, scoring 18 goals with 64 assists for 82 points and was a + 34 with 32 penalty minutes.
His numbers speak volumes of his impending raise as Darnell nurse the highest paid defenseman in the Oilers organization played 81 games, scored ten goals with 22 assists for 32 points and was a + 3 and currently has a contract that is worth $9.5 million per season.
Both players will be seeking major money, and it remains to be seen on whether Oilers CEO Jeff Jackson and general manager Stan Bowman can make everything fit but it's paramount that he does as both players are fixtures in the Oilers core.
