Fan fights have been a reoccurring sight at playoff watch parties this year, but last night saw the first clash between an Oilers fan and Canucks fan.
According to a post from YegWave, a Canucks fan was heavily intoxicated and began acting erratically during the game, provoking fights the several Oilers fans. It looks like the Oilers fans became agitated with the one individual, and the group came together to fight the one Canucks fan. As the person recording the video gleamed as well, it was a much older Canucks fan instigating the fight with younger Oilers fans.
According to the post, the Canucks fan may have had a history of this behaviour, and ended up getting knocked out and embarrassed in the street.
At another time in the game, one Canucks fan was escorted out of the building for reportedly being too intoxicated and causing trouble. Little details were provided, but it's another testament to the raucous atmosphere in the arena last night.
For the vast majority of fans and people attending the outdoor watch parties, it's an incredible experience to take in a playoff game with a large group of passionate fans - but there's a small minority that seems bent on causing trouble. At least in this situation, it seems like street justice was served, and nothing more needs to come from it.
