An incredibly rare sight occurred in today's matinee game with the Edmonton Oilers visiting the Buffalo Sabres. With just seconds to go in overtime, the Sabres scored to win the game - or so they thought. Both the Oilers and the Sabres fully left the ice and started getting undressed when minutes afterwards, the referees overturned the supposed game winning goal due to an offside. It took several minutes for the Oilers to get re-dressed, warm up, and get back to the ice.

Leon Draisaitl in the postgame interview actually said that players were close to getting in the shower when they heard the call that the game wasn't over yet.

The Oilers left the ice clearly frustrated with the perceived loss, crushed by losing to a basement team for the second game in a row. With a camera pointed into the tunnel, it was obvious that the Oilers had to take a moment to really collect themselves mentally to get back into the game after a tough defeat.

Clearly, the Oilers still weren't fully in it as the team just had 20 seconds left in overtime. Buffalo jumped on them quickly and fiercely, getting more than a few quality chances in the moments before the game eventually went to the shootout.

Unfortunately, the Oilers had to taste defeat twice in this game as the Sabres took the shootout as well.
