During an interview with PK Subban on ESPN Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid revealed the truth behind his fear of ketchup revealed by his wife Lauren.

McDavid explained that the quirky fear is more of a phobia with ketchup that he shares with his brother Cameron. This phobia goes well back into his youth and never has really thought about it until it was revealed a few weeks ago after the airing of new Amazon Prime series FaceOff: Inside The NHL.

«The ketchup thing is a funny thing. My brother and I, we both grew up that way. It's more of a phobia,» McDavid said.

«I wish I could tell you more about it. I don't know why it is that way, it's just something that, you know, never got into with, you know, my brother and I, and it's kind of stuck as more of a phobia.»

Subban asked what his cheat meal would be since he doesn't use ketchup on his food. Like David quickly responded that he has a sweet tooth and that he enjoys licorice another candy. Subban Also explained the rest of the NHL would love to have this phobia if it means 200 points in a season.

«If it's a phobia, I think I share on behalf of the whole NHL, there's about 700 players that would like the same phobia that you have, because if it's gonna amount in 175 points, 200 points a season, I'll take it. So, you don't have to eat ketchup, it's all good Connor.»

The Oilers had been mired in a three-game slump which was broken yesterday as the team beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime. Many were quick to point out that McDavid had not scored during those three games and that questions and panic had been setting in to the dressing room. Well that was not the case as Mcdavid had two points last night along with Leon Draisaitl.

The team is looking forward to building off this win as the Oilers conclude their homestand and go on the road to take on the Nashville Predators on October 17th and game time will be at 8:00 PM eastern.
