Last night, the Oilers went into Dallas expecting a hardened playoff test, and they failed miserably. Edmonton lost 5-0, and more than a few players had poor performances, but especially Darnell Nurse.

On Wyatt Johnston's goal to give the Stars a 2-0 lead and take command of the game late in the second, Darnell Nurse made simply an unacceptable mistake, and it's happened much too often. Nurse made a terrible pinch while the Stars were directed up the ice, practically gifting them a goal with a 4 on 1 breakout. The NHL on TNT broadcast had an incredible breakdown of the play by Eddie Olczyk which really resonated with Oilers fans.

Simply put, it's very worrisome to see Nurse make these mistakes and get schooled against a quality team like the Dallas Stars with the playoffs only 9 games away. Since the trade deadline, the Oilers have hit a bit of a funk marked by some disappointing losses to Buffalo, Toronto, Ottawa, St. Louis, and now Dallas. Fans took to social media to share their concerns about Nurse and the Oilers heading into the playoffs.

The Oilers broadcast and media really are fantastic for their coverage and dedication to the team, but it's really refreshing to hear Olczyk's unfiltered opinion of something fans have been screaming about for years - Nurse's poor defensive play.

Despite this brutal mistake and awful game from Nurse and the Oilers, none of that has to matter in the next few weeks if they can find their game and go on a run in the playoffs.
