Holloway was just skating by the crease when the opposing goalie clearly stuck his stick out to spear him in the mid section. Holloway skated off for a few seconds trying to shake off the pain, but then awkwardly fell to the ice before making his way to the bench. According to reports, he did not return for the remainder of the game.
Thankfully after the game, Condors reporters gleamed an update from the coach that Holloway was just dealing with a significant bruise and some pain, but he's expected to be okay. Condors forward Drake Caggiula however sustained a broken hand.
Holloway's a big part of the future for the Edmonton Oilers, both for later this season and in the next few years. As the 14th overall pick by the Oilers in the 2020 draft, the team needs to start seeing a leap in his development soon. As a contending team, they need solid contributions from their bottom six, and Holloway has struggled to do so in the NHL with just 3 goals and 4 points in 32 games. Hopefully Holloway is okay after that brutal spear, and can continue to refine his game in the AHL this year, he may be called upon come playoff time.
