Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner speaks to media after missing game for family reason
Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner was back at practice today, and spoke to the media after missing yesterday's game to be with his wife for the birth of their second child.
Skinner was absent from yesterday's practice, and it was soon reported that he was with his wife at the hospital while she was giving birth.

Meeting with the media after morning skate today, Skinner had nothing but good news to share. His wife, Chloe is healthy, and the couple welcomed Darcy into the world - their second boy. Skinner had the radiant joy of a new father through the whole interview.
Everyone's doing well, everyone's healthy. Baby came out beautiful, my wife Chloe's doing great - a superhero obviously I didn't do anything, and I was tired. So I can only imagine how she's feeling.
His name is Darcy Daniel Skinner. Really good name for him. Fits his face, fits his energy. Yeah, we love it.
In response to Skinner's absence last night, the Oilers had to sign Tyler Palmer from the University of Alberta as an emergency backup goalie.
Stuart Skinner has had an inconsistent season with the Oilers, but is nearing closer to league-average stats with a .902 save percentage this season.
While the Edmonton-born goalie can lose his game at times, he also has the ability to correct quickly from a poor performance. An anonymous NHL goalie said Skinner's bounce-back ability was arguably his best skill.
»I've been impressed by his resilience. I think there's an X-factor there that you can't quite quantify.»
- Anonymous NHL goalie
It's great to see Skinner and his young family thriving in Edmonton. Skinner has the chance to backstop his hometown team to a Stanley Cup, and is one of the best personalities on the Oilers. Though he has his ups and downs, it's impossible not to root for Stu Skinner.
