Oilers superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl clarify comments about Blues offer sheets

Matt Larkin of The Hockey News tweeted that Robert Thomas was with several Oilers players when the news broke about the offer sheets going through. McDavid felt that his comments were funny as he explained that the St Louis forward felt that they were angry that offer sheets were sent to both players. Draisaitl in typical Draisaitl fashion gave a more brutally honest answer that they were not letting the offer sheets get to them.

As all players know along with their agents that this is a business, and some general managers are more aggressive and using other tools to help their team forward which is what general manager Doug Armstrong did with his Blues team.

This kind of move could certainly usher in more offer sheets in the future as teams are realizing that the league is full of talent and if other teams are not willing to pay or can't pay what's being asked then it's in their best interest to pry to take them from the organization.

Both Broberg and Holloway received two-year deals with Broberg signing a $4.5 million per season contract and Holloway receiving $2.3 million per season.

No organization wants to lose players that they feel are important to their roster especially when it comes to their depth. But the Oilers did not come empty handed as they received a second and third round draft pick for both players as compensation.

Oilers fans will have to wait and watch to see how both players performed with the Blues this season.
