The Canucks are sitting tied for second in the league. They've traded for center Elias Lindholm, making a full push for the Stanley Cup. However, there's one concern that lies within the organization: what's going on with Elias Petterson.

Elliotte Friedman said that the Canucks are receiving calls on Petterson, but are telling teams that they're actively trying to sign him. For how long, no one knows. Now, Pettersson is still refusing to even make a commitment to re-signing, and the team is being forced to explore the trade market for him.

Pettersson is 25 years old and was selected fifth overall in the 2017 draft. He has 29 goals and 45 assists, tallying up to 74 points in 60 games this year.

If Vancouver re-signs him, Pettersson will likely become one of the highest paid players in the league. If he continues to play coy and the organization loses patience, they could also command a king's ransom in trade. The Canucks still have time to make the most of this situation, but every day this continues, it seems less likely that Pettersson will stay with Canucks long term.
