Fight breaks out at practice as tension boils over Red Wings losing streak
The Detroit Red Wings were back at practice today after a horrific 7-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres last night, and frustration was clearly still there with the team. In a play around the net, forward Lucas Raymond went after defenceman Ben Chiarot. Raymond was clearly livid, and had his helmet pop off while Moritz Seider held him back.
The Red Wings have now lost six games in a row and fallen out of the last playoff spot in the eastern conference. For a team that made significant additions in the last few offseasons through the draft and free agency, they were expected to be playoff contenders by now - not showing this kind of incompatibility in their practices.
It's definitely a worrying sight to see a 21 year old younger forward who's the future of the team in Raymond show this much frustration towards the veteran Chiarot. With the emotion that Raymond showed in that scrum, it's very possible that there's a rift in the locker room.
Their team captain and best player Dylan Larkin has missed the last four games with injury, but is expected to be returning soon. With this worrying sight in practice and the team free falling in the standings, he's probably itching to get back to leading his team.
