6 Days Until Kailer Yamamato is no longer an Oiler
The Edmonton Oilers are on the lookout for ways to save on their budget for future moves. As with any team, they need to make sure they can balance their books by moving players around as necessary.
Rumors have circulated that Kailer Yamamoto may either be traded or bought out, depending on how things play out.
Daniel Nugent-Bowman: "If a suitable trade can't be found, it's a near lock the Oilers will buy out [Kailer] Yamamoto before the 3 p.m. MT deadline next Friday."
However, it appears that the Oilers have not yet found a suitable trading partner for him, despite the fact that some might consider him a redemption project.
There was talk of a trade with the Philadelphia team, but it's unclear whether that deal ever came to fruition or if it just fell apart.
Yamamoto's buyout will save the team $2.13 Million, according to CapFriendly, and will cost $1.06 Million for 2 years.
In any case, it seems that Ken Holland will need to explore the idea of buyouts as a way to cut costs but with caution.
We thank Yamamoto for his time in Edmonton and wish him all the best.
