It's not too often you hear from players in the NHL who have been speaking out or speak to reporters stating that if they were to win a playoff series against a club that could break up the core and the construction of that team simply by beating them.

Times have changed in 2023, and with social media and everyone's ear to the ground hearing everything that comes out of organizations' troubles it wouldn't surprise me that this was possible.

Well on the 32 Thoughts Podcast with Jeff Marek, co-host Elliotte Friedman spoke about a player reaching out to him from the Oilers stating that if they would have beaten the Flames in the 2022 playoffs that it would lead to the end of the current flames as we know it.

Since that playoffs, the flames have been nothing but a disaster. Player after player has asked to either not be re-signed from the Flames or have bolted for other teams and requested a trade.

They have fired their head coach and their general manager. It seems that the flames cannot stop this bleeding. Newly minted general manager Craig Conroy taking over he will have his hands full and trying to figure out how to juggle this lineup to ice a team this coming October.

With all this terrible news swirling around the flames, it's making other teams, including the Edmonton Oilers look at the players wanting out and possibly trying to make a deal to bolster their lineup. It's simply fascinating what's happening in Calgary.
