It hasn't been a good year for Seattle Kraken prospect Shane Wright. After expecting to go 1st overall in the NHL Entry Draft this summer, Wright would drop to 4th and be selected by the Seattle Kraken.

Since then Wright has struggled during his 1st try at the NHL and was sent back to junior to further his development. Wright was Captain of Team Canada, who won the gold medal at the 2023 world junior hockey Championships, and was part of a huge trade that sent him to the Windsor Spitfires.

Another player that's struggling is Vancouver Canucks Captain Bo Horvat. All though Horvat's having a great year stats wise the Canucks are having a disastrous year and Horvat being a pending UFA, is expected to be traded by the NHL trade deadline due to the cap issues they are dealing with.

We are now learning from popular NHL analyst RIck Dhaliwal that the Kraken have been one of the front runners for Bo Horvat, and they could be looking to make a deal that would send Horvat to Seattle in return for Shane Wright. This trade would help both sides, the Canucks want to retool and the Kraken are likely heading into their 1st playoffs in franchise history, Horvat would help with a playoff run and they could also re-sign him after.
