BREAKING: Ex-Oilers 1st Overall Pick Has Signed a New Contract
In a surprising move, former first overall pick Nail Yakupov has signed a new contract.
After a challenging start to his NHL career, Yakupov ventured to the KHL in 2018.
Now, he has agreed to a one-year deal with his hometown team, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, in the KHL.
Yakupov showcased his talent during his impressive junior years in the OHL, leading to his selection by the Oilers.
Over his NHL career, spanning four seasons with Edmonton and subsequent stints with the Blues and Avalanche, he played 350 games and recorded 136 points.
As Yakupov embarks on this new chapter, we extend our best wishes to him.
