BREAKING - Former Canadian 8th Overall Pick Has Sadly Passed Away
NHL Alumni has reported the passing of Dave Gardner, who was chosen as the 8th general pick in the 1972 NHL draft, at the age of 70. In his career span of playing numerous teams such as St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, California Seals, Cleveland Barrons, and Philadelphia Flyers, Gardner played 350 games and scored 190 points.
Hockey was a significant part of the Gardner family legacy, as Gardner's brother, Paul, and father, Cal, both played in the NHL, thereby leading to their hockey involvement. Gardner's contributions to the sport have been remembered, although his son could not manifest his professional career in the NHL despite attempting to do so in Europe. Our condolences are with his family at this challenging moment.
