University sports can get pretty wild at times, in NCAA college basketball along with football games and of course hockey games. Tonight when the university of Prince Edward Island played against the Alberta golden bears, the game descended into chaos after the second period.

It all began when a player of the University of Prince Edward Island skated directly into the Golden Bears' goaltender. It appeared that the player did not make any attempt to stop and that it was more of an intentional hit.

As the ensuing melee got under control, another university of Prince Edward Island hockey player's latest sucker punch against the Golden Bears' goaltender.

Once the game was done, however, Alberta refused to shake hands with Prince Edward Island and left the ice as fast as possible. Albert's head coach felt that the situation was getting unsafe for his players and that he pulled them from the ice to prevent any further altercations.

It is customary to shake hands after a tournament regardless of what happened during the game. But with this situation spiralling out of control, it could have turned into a very ugly ending far worse than what happened.

It remains to be seen how punishments will be doled with after this incident.
