BREAKING: Ken Holland's Time Reportedly 'Near Exit'
The Edmonton Oilers experienced a somewhat repetitive season in 2022-2023. Ken Holland, the General Manager, was successful in leading the team to another 2nd round exit. However, this may not be enough to secure his role as it appears he may not be offered a contract extension in his final summer.
Interestingly, some of the impressive free-agency acquisitions made by the Oilers are credited to Brad Holland, Ken's younger colleague. It's possible that analytics played a role in some of these decisions.
There has been zero discussion about an extension for Ken Holland.

One of the most famous GMs in the game's history appears to be on track for an exit.
Who replaces him, how and when?
There are rumors that Steve Staios may be next in line for the General Manager position if Holland decides to move on after the last year of his contract. However, it's uncertain where Holland could land and if the Ottawa Senators will make a move for him.
There are concerns that a Staios hire could affect the team's star players, Leon Draisailt and Connor McDavid, but this is all speculation for now.
