BREAKING NEWS - NHL's Development League to Ban Fighting Permanently
To see their teams play live, fans must pay a priceand frequently an insane amount. Fighting occasionally breaks out during games of all skill levels, which significantly increases the value of the ticket. But what if fighting was gradually outlawed in hockey?
In the QMJHL, one of the top leagues for NHL development, fighting will be permanently prohibited by a regulation that will be put in place. Giving each fighter a 10-minute severe penalty this season has already started to tighten down on fighting in an effort to stop it, but it hasn't been very effective.
A representative for the QMJHL gave the following details:
The QMJHL is planning to have a rule in place that will ban fighting, making it black and white that it is no longer a part of our game. The punishments have not been decided as of yet. We will be looking to have a rule in place in June when the next general annual assembly of the members of the board of governors takes place.
Although there is no official ruleprohibiting it yet, prior reports give the idea that any players who engage in fighting may be permanently removed from the game.
