The NHL has done a fairly good job when it comes to expansion teams, with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken for examples.
However, there's also been some duds like the Atlanta Thrashers and currently the Arizona Coyotes. Despite the Coyotes well documented financial troubles, uncle Garry seems to keep bailing them out.
With that said the NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is looking at expanding the League from the current 32 teams to 34, with Atlanta and Houston *rumoured* to be the possible new destinations.
That once again means the hopes for expanding in Canada, more specifically Quebec, goes up in dreams yet again.
