For the past week, the Oilers have been aware that Kailer Yamamoto is near his return from injury, and that they must clear $1.3 million in cap space to have Yamamoto return to the lineup. Whether that would mean a trade or a player waived (likely Jesse Puljujarvi), nothing was done, and now we have Kailer Yamamoto missing out on games due to Ken Holland working in snail mode this season.
The Edmonton Oilers have announced the roster moves that they have made to get Kailer Yamamoto back into the lineup, and it's truly ridiculous:
In conclusion, the Oilers have sent down their best penalty-killing defensemen David Desharnais, who has found his groove in the NHL, as well as Dylan Holloway, who has been attempting to find his groove and has been with the Edmonton Oilers roster this entire season.
It's quite disappointing to see these roster moves being made, as this could have all been avoided weeks ago. Hopefully a trade is near, so Desharnais and Holloway can slot back into the lineup, but Bob Stauffer, an Oilers reporter seems like that won't be the case with the following statement:
Key words, ''don't be surprised if both or one of them are back with the Oilers at some point this year''.
As you can imagine, fans are not too happy, and we don't blame them.
