Canadian NHL Defensemen Struck by a Vehicle on a Scooter: Team Releases Official Update
Although the NHL is regarded as one of the greatest sports leagues ever, the intense activity sometimes results in on-ice injuries. Sadly, the Calgary Flames recently revealed that their star defenseman was thankful to be alive after suffering an off-ice injury.
A moving car struck Calgary Flames defender Rasmus Andersson as he was riding a scooter to dinner in Detroit. Following is a statement from the Calgary Flames:
At approximately 6:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday, February 8 in Detroit, MI, while riding a scooter on his way to dinner, Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson was struck by a vehicle. Andersson was taken to a local hospital for a full battery of tests before being released last night.
Andersson is doing well, and he will remain with the team. He is listed as day-to-day.
Even though Andersson has been the only offensive defenseman for the Calgary Flames throughout their gloomy success thus far this season, it is not what the team is concerned about at the moment.
We are keeping Rasmus in our thoughtsand prayers. The Calgary Flames have a new update:
«He's doing well and is in good spirits. He's very lucky - it certainly could have been a lot worse. He's a little rattled. We'll list him as day to day. He won't play tonight and then we'll see. No injuries we are overly concerned about but we will see.»
We are glad Rasmus is doing well, and hope he takes the time away from the game that he needs to recover mentally and physically.
