Oilers ultra superstar Connor McDavid has been the talk of the hockey community well before he was drafted. Everyone knew he was going to be special and effective in the NHL. After 2015 when he was drafted first overall for the Oilers the world saw what everyone was saying.
This season will be one for the ages for McDavid as he continues to climb in his stats and gameplay. During the game against the Chicago Blackhawks, he displayed why he is the best in the business in a generation.
The Oilers phenom has played 50 games and has scored 41 goals with an incredible 51 assists for an eye-popping 92 points. That's right, this is 50 games in this season, it's incredible.
Despite his young age, McDavid still has many years to continue setting records and piling up stats. We haven't seen the full potential of this player yet. What remains to be seen is whether he can lead the Oilers to a sixth Stanley Cup championship.
If Oilers management wants to see this happen they will need to continue to construct this roster around him and give him the pieces he needs to win.
