Crosby for president? Young McDavid thought so.
It's always interesting to hear from athletes when they recount as children who their idols are or their favourite players. Whether it's Rory Mcllroy talking about how he used to watch Tiger Woods all the time and wanting to be like him when in the future he did become one of the best golfers in the world.
The same goes for hockey. Several years ago Connor McDavid felt that Sidney Crosby was his favourite hockey player and asked to do a presentation about him in school.
McDavid's teacher recounted a time when she asked him to do presentations and quizzed him to get him to come out of his shell. She felt that one day this might help him with interviews that he will face once he becomes the superstar he is now.
After receiving a report he needed to do for class, the young McDavid felt that Sidney Crosby had to wear a crown on his head and was dubbed to run for president. It put a smile on the teacher's face and always will be a great memory.
Fast forward to 2023, and the 26-year-old McDavid has given the NHL in its fans something incredible. He passed the 150-point mark which hasn't been done since the early 1990s, he has played 80 games and has scored a mind-blowing 64 goals with 87 assists for 151 points. He has 21 power-play goals and 69 power-play points and is a + 22.
That will be seared into the memories of many fans for years to come.
