Darnell Nurse will put the haters to shame this year
The Oilers fanbase loves and hates Darnell Nurse equally year in and year out. Many people hate the defenseman due to his new $9.25 million AAV contract.
In spite of Nurse being one of the better top-pairing defenseman on the team, fans are waiting for him to slip up and justify their hatred.
This season, Nurse regains his form and makes his haters eat their words.
The average TOI Nurse played last season was 23:31, more than Mattias Ekholm.
It is evident that Woodcroft trusts Nurse and Ceci to play shutdown against elite players, as Nurse played 34.7% against elite players.
Nurse's GF% last season was 55.8%, which is excellent for a defensive player, as when he is on the ice, the team scores more goals.
This data suggests that Nurse could do even better and continue to prove people wrong in 2023-2024, despite being unfairly trashed by the fanbase.
