In Montreal, they missed each other by a year, but they were never teammates. Subban was traded to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber prior to Shaw's arrival.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion from the Blackhawks dynasty era describes Subban as arrogant and self-centered.
According to Shaw, Subban was unpopular with the Habs, but this may be hearsay from the locker room.
Shaw claims that all of his teammates in Montreal hated him, showing just how much he hates him.
We only hear one side of the story in Shaw's comments, implying bias from the start.
Line up both careers, however, and you get an interesting discussion:
Over the course of 11 years, Shaw played 544 games with 247 points in the NHL. In the NHL, Shaw did not win any individual awards. While playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, he won two Stanley Cups.
In contrast, P.K. played better on an individual level. His 13 seasons as a defenseman resulted in 834 games played and 467 points scored. As well as the Norris Trophy, Subban also won the King Clancy Trophy.
Unlike Shaw who had the benefit of playing on a dynasty in Chicago, Subban had a heavier load to carry in Montreal, with Carey Price during his time there.
