Over the past week, Ryan Lindgren of the New York Rangers has had a tough few games after being the target for body checks.

During the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs Lindgren was skating towards the Toronto end when he forgot to look up and hit a brick wall that was Jake McCabe.

This clean hit sent the Rangers forward straight to the ice knocking him clearly off his feet. Lindgren was shaken up but was OK.

Fast forward to tonight's game against the Boston Bruins and it was a very different picture. Lindgren tried to retrieve the puck when Boston's superstar forward David Pastrnak decided to send a vicious check from behind which caused Lindgren to head to the dressing room.

Pastrnak received a 5-minute major and included a game misconduct. It's widely expected that that kind of call would become common as other players over the past week and a half have faced the similar kind of hit where in some cases there were no call on the play or even a suspension.

I would expect the NHL to continue to review this and possibly tell their referees to call more hits to get control of the situation.
