Ex-NHL Vice President has sadly passed away at the age of 94
The hockey world mourns the loss of a great figure as Brian O'Neil passed away at the age of 94.
Born in Montreal, O'Neil was appointed as the NHL's director of administration by President Clarance Campbell in 1966.
He played a crucial role in expanding the league during the 1967-1968 season, adding six more teams, and doubling its size.
O'Neil went on to become NHL Vice President after Campbell's departure in 1977 until his retirement in 1992. Serving the game for over 50 years, he witnessed its growth from modest beginnings to what it is today.
Our deepest condolences go out to the O'Neil family. A memorial in Montreal is scheduled for September 2nd. May he rest in peace.
