Former NHL Legend is Facing Charges in Finland
The Edmonton Oilers, who had an abundance of skill at the time, were the kings of the 1980s, winning four Stanley Cups. Some instances are Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, and Esa Tikkanen.
AlthoughTikkanen's playing days are long behind him, it appears like his current struggle is more difficult. The former Oilers legend is facingchargeswith a crime in his native Finland:
According to reports, Tikkanen is being prosecuted for serious tax fraud.
According to court documents, the offences are alleged to have occurred from 2015 to 2019 and involve money Tikkanen made abroad. Tikkanen denied committing any crimes,
"I have not committed any offence, it is a matter of disagreement with the tax authorities," Tikkanen told reporters in Finland.
Apparently according to the media out of Finland Tikkanen has had $178,000 worth of his assets seized by the authorities in Finland, but that was later reversed. As of now there's yet to be a official court date set for Tikkanen's hearing.
One of the greatest players to ever represent Finland, Tikkanen paved the way for the following group of Finnish athletes.
