A Heartbreaking Loss in Hockey
The hockey world is mourning the tragic passing of former NHL player Adam Johnson, who had played for the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 201819 and 201920 season. He lost his life in a horrifying incident while competing in the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League.
''The National Hockey League family mourns the passing of former Pittsburgh Penguin Adam Johnson. Our prayers and deepest condolences go to his family, friends and teammates.''
The dreadful event occurred during a game between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers. Despite their efforts, Johnson's injuries proved fatal.
The Nottingham Panthers expressed their condolences and highlighted Johnson's remarkable qualities as both a player and teammate. The EIHL also postponed all its games scheduled for October 29 as a mark of respect.
