Former Oilers Coach Banned Donuts From Edmonton Media
Dallas Eakins' time in Edmonton left a lasting impression, though not for positive reasons.
His record during his tenure in Oil Country was a dismal 29-44-9.
In fact, he became infamous in the eyes of local Edmonton media for a draconian act he committed. He banned the donut tray, not for his own players but for the local media.
"Everybody enjoy those doughnuts because that's the first change that's going to go in here!"--Dallas Eakins #oilers #nhl #yeg

Eakins was hired as coach in the summer of 2013, but his unpopularity due to his losing record and treatment by the media led to his firing just 18 months later. It's hard to admire a self-righteous health nut, after all.
