Hockey Goalie Fight Ends With an Unexpected Bang (VIDEO)
In a hockey world where fighting is becoming an endangered species, some leagues refuse to let go of this time-honored tradition. While the NHL and other junior leagues are keen on phasing out fighting, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) stands as a stronghold for this unique aspect of the sport.
A recent game between the Flin Flon Bombers and the Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers exemplified the SJHL's unwavering commitment to fisticuffs. In an unexpected twist, the goalies took center stage as Kenneth Marquardt and Logan Faulk decided to drop their gloves.
The bout was over almost as quickly as it began. Marquardt's first punch found its mark on Faulk's face, sending both netminders tumbling to the ice. In a testament to the resilience of these athletes, they swiftly rose to their feet. Marquardt, perhaps buoyed by the electric atmosphere, waved his arms to further energize the crowd as he skated off the ice.
Fortunately, no injuries resulted from this spirited exchange. However, the incident did achieve its goal, as fans in attendance received an adrenaline rush that harkened back to hockey's old-school traditions.
