Incredible scenes in Montreal as Patrick Roy makes his return
As the New York Islanders visited the Montreal Canadiens tonight, it was the first time in quite a while Patrick Roy entered the Bell Center in Montreal with an NHL team. Fans were eagerly awaiting his return, and during the national anthem, the crowd erupted as a video tribute played to honour Roy.
The Canadiens are always revered for having the most dedicated fans and the best atmosphere out of any arena in the NHL, and they proved it here tonight with an incredible roar for Roy. On the bench, Roy didn't allow his emotions to get to him, but he still clearly adored the tribute.
Being a multiple time Stanley Cup Champion in the city of Montreal, being one of the best goaltenders to ever play, being a proud Quebecer, and being a hot head behind the bench are all the reasons fans are thrilled to see Roy return to the NHL - and there is no better place for a true welcome back than the Bell Center in Montreal.
