The first season for Jack Campbell as the goaltender of the Edmonton Oilers has been far from what he and the team had hoped it would be. General manager Ken Holland expected high-end goaltending from Campbell as he awarded him a five-year $25 million deal.

That has not transpired, it's been pretty much a disaster season. Campbell has shown flashes of brilliance in his game, but overall it has not improved.

During the trade deadline, many rumours were flying around that the Oilers were looking at San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson had a potential trade target which as we all know didn't transpire.

It's suggested by Eric Duhatschek of the Athletic, that Edmonton might try to move the beleaguered goaltender during the summer and that possibly San Jose could be a team that could look at him for their rebuilding phase.

A trade like this would take time, and a willingness to eat some money to make a trade work. The Oilers will need to do something to get out from under this contract as the goaltending upgrade has not occurred, and he doesn't seem to be improving.

The Oilers are home and will face the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday, March 25th. Game time will be at 10:00 PM eastern.
