Moments ago, legendary Flames player Lanny McDonald shared a story on his Instagram page about a brutal health scare he endured just coming home from the All Star Game. According to his statement, McDonald suffered a cardiac event in the Calgary Airport, and some passerby nurses quickly rushed to his aid to save his life.

After spending a weekend wowed by hockey's best at the All-Star Game in Toronto, I had a cardiac event after arriving back at the Calgary Airport yesterday.

Two selfless nurses who were passing by to catch their own flights immediately jumped into action. In the rush of the moment, Arden wasn't able to get their names, but we are eternally grateful for their care and action. I owe them my life.

McDonald went on to thank the rest of the first responders, airport staff, and hospital staff for the care he received in the last day to get him healthy and on the road to recovery. He closed his statement with excitement for the upcoming Super Bowl and watching his Calgary Flames.

It's an incredible story for the 70 year old Albertan native hall of famer. The rest of the hockey world is equally as grateful to the support of the workers around McDonald to save his life in such a scary event. We wish him the best in his recovery!
