Legendary play-by-play commentator gets emotional when announcing retirement on air
Today, TSN's broadcast of the USA vs Latvia World Juniors game marked the end of the legendary broadcasting career for Dennis Beyak. At the end of the game, TSN took a moment to recognize Beyak and his incredible career, and things got emotional on the air.
Analyst Craig Button presented Beyak with a special jersey for his retirement, and said a few words about his friend and colleague as he fought back clear tears in his eyes.
Beyak began his broadcasting career in 1970 for the WCHL and went on to call play by play on games for many Canadian teams including the Oilers, Leafs, and full time on TSN for the Winnipeg Jets since 2011.
Button's address on the broadcast was a great send-off moment for a legendary broadcaster that deserves the praise. All hockey fans will join in wishing Beyak the best in retirement.
