After much debate, and arguments back and forth between the city of Calgary and the Flames organization, it seems that a deal has been struck between them to build a new arena. The announcement was made yesterday with a price tag of over a billion dollars.

What's interesting about this deal is that numerous parts of it will be funded by the public along with some private money.

NDP leader Rachel Notley gave her thoughts on this proposed deal we're talking over $870m in tax payers money.

It seems that the full extent of the deal remains in secrecy. And that they intend to release more of the project information after Election Day which is coming up shortly in Alberta.

Oilers fans in the city of Edmonton will be interested to find out more about this deal are being asked to fund this project through their taxes when the Oilers organization was told that they had to fund their new building at the time the Rogers Arena 100% on their own.

Oilers owner Daryl Katz managed to get the money required to do this and built an exquisite building. I'm sure more details will emerge sooner than later as the public demands more answers.

I do feel that these companies should fund these kinds of projects on their own and not ask the taxpayer to help as they will be the ones using the building to pay for seats and spend money on entertainment.
