Chemistry is always tough to find when new linemates are put together when a new season begins. With the arrival of Zach Hyman from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Oilers fans were wondering if he was the solution for McDavid and Draisaitl.

Fast forward to 2023 and those questions were answered. the trio of McDavid, Draisaitl, and Hyman have become the first trio to score 25 goals through their first 49 games of the season since 1995-96 when Mario Lemieux, Jagr, and Sandstrom did the same.

Hyman, who was drafting the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, fifth round at 123rd overall has played 47 games this season, with 24 goals and 32 assists for a total of 56 points. He has 25 penalty minutes and holds a + 14.

The 30-year-old left winger will continue to be a mainstay in the Oilers' top six and will continue to improve his totals as the trio continues to play together. Oilers management and ownership hope this will help them push deeper into the playoffs in the coming years.

Time will tell if this will happen. The next game for the Oilers will be against the Blackhawks when they play at home on Saturday, January 28th. Game time will start at 10:00 PM eastern
