The goal every year for Team Canada is to win gold and only gold no matter the stage or tournament. The 2022 World Junior Hockey Champions have their eyes on defending the throne as Hockey Canada has announced their roster for the annual tournament that takes place over the Christmas holidays season.
Team Canada has won 3 of the last 5 gold medals including a thrilling 3-2 overtime win last tournament vs Team Finland in Edmonton Alberta.
Canada looks good heading into the Tournament led by teenage hockey phenom and the projected 1st overall pick in next summer's NHL draft, Connor Bedard. Canada will have Shane Wright who's got a chip on his shoulder after being selected 4th overall in this past summer's NHL draft, after being the concenus pick for over a year to be selected 1st overall.
Along with other returning players from last year's tournament and the addition of Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy who's been killing it in the QMJHL, Canada looks to be primed to repeat in the 2023 World Jr's when they host the 47th annual tournament in Halifax Nova Scotia and Moncton New Brunswick.
