Oilers defenseman impressed with the fan base.
Throughout his career, Mattias Ekholm has been used to the fan base of Smashville otherwise known as Nashville. It's told that they have a great crowd and a great experience watching a hockey game. Ekholm spent 12 years of his career in Nashville and became a household name on their defence core.
During the trade deadline this year, the Edmonton Oilers acquired his services he had an immediate impact on the team. The team went on an amazing run down the stretch and won over 17 games to clinch their playoff spot.
Now that the playoffs are in full swing and the Oilers are leading the series three to two against the LA Kings, Ekholm weighed in on his thoughts about the Oilers' crowd and how it's so cool to see.
«It's so cool to watch,» said Ekholm. «There are only so many seats in our arena that you can fill. Seeing the outside watch party, like it's the first round right? And it's still there, and the fans are so excited. It's been cool to come here as a new guy in Edmonton and see how passionate everybody is about hockey.» DH Offside
